Plan your visit

Drive it slowly, or walk the whole thing.

Where it is

Confederation Park Golf Course. The display runs along 14 Street NW, north of 24 Avenue. Park on a side street and walk in, or take it in from the car.

When to come

Every night from November 21 to January 8, 5:30 pm until midnight. No tickets, no time slots, no admission. Weeknights before the holidays are the quietest.

On the road

14 Street backs up on December weekends. Watch for slow-moving vehicles and for people crossing in the dark, and give yourself extra time through the stretch.

Why we do it

Calgary gives to the Lions all year. This is the thank-you.

Besides giving everyone in Calgary some Christmas cheer, we do this to give back to our city. Calgarians donate time and money to the Lions each and every year, and this is one of our ways of saying thank you.

The Lions Festival of Lights Society has run the festival for forty years. Lions from Calgary and area, members of IBEW #254, and people from the community at large donate their time to build the displays and set them up. Sponsors cover the materials. Volunteers do the rest.

Can I help?

Yes. Bring gloves.

Every display is bent, wired and stood up by hand at the Shack — on the bike path just west of the Confederation Golf Course, off 24 Avenue NW. Coffee and lunch are supplied. Bring a friend to any workshop.
